WPC: R.O.T

A thought:

ARE RULES INFALLIBLE?

No. But often a simple guideline gratefully received from the experts (and applied—that’s important too) can be much better than blind chance.

SO I APPLIED THE ADVICE

and it’s true, using the Rule Of Thirds greatly enhances a composition, as exemplified by these two taken just yesterday—

Do you see how bleeeeuuchhh the shot is without using the rule? Quite easy actually—if your camera doesn’t have the physical ability then simply mentally project (visualise) a grid of four lines forming nine squares onto your proposed image, move about until the Point Of Major Interest (your ‘intention’ for this shot) is on one of the four ‘thirds’ intercepts … and shoot.

Bingo!

One much improved composition coming up, as demonstrated herein below—

—and modesty forbids that I wax eloquent at this point. I’ll content myself with a subtle blush, a shuffle of my feet and the obligatory “Aw, shucks~!”

If you haven’t used the technique yet: try it~! (You’ll just love it …)

    1. Thanks, Bill.

The rule is easy, it’s the camera that has me snookered—endless pages of links to other pages, each with endless more links with links to other pa—

I miss my old Brownie 127 … point, click; what could be better than that?
